Dr. Alison Bauer didn’t have obstetrics on her radar when she was deciding her career in medicine. However, she chose to pursue maternal fetal medicine because she said it allows her to care for women at the most important time in their life.

“Maternal fetal medicine is challenging,” Dr. Bauer said. “I enjoy helping my patients through difficult times. I have the opportunity to develop a strong relationship with them and help them through challenges now and in their next pregnancy.”

Not only does Dr. Bauer connect with her patients, she works closely with her patient’s care team, which can include diabetes educators, pediatric surgeons, NICU providers and others to coordinate the best care for her patients.

Dr. Bauer sees obstetric patients with any complicated pregnancy including conditions for mom or baby like high blood pressure, heart disease, lupus, cancer, growth concerns and preterm births, to name a few. She is available for consultations with patients during prenatal appointments, as well as during labor and delivery.

“I’m passionate about helping my patients through complex maternal medical problems, critical care and high-risk deliveries,” she said.

Dr. Bauer earned her medical degree from University of Wisconsin – School of Medicine & Public Health in 2013. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and her Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at MetroHealth Medical Center/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Bauer has a husband and three sons. Their family enjoys traveling to national parks across the country. They like to kayak, backpack, and camp, including near the Grand Canyon.
