As a medical oncologist/hematologist, Dr. Abhishek Seth provides care for cancer survivors using treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal, biological and targeted therapies.
When caring for patients with cancer, the treatments can be very complex and are constantly changing and improving. This is why Dr. Seth is very thorough with all of his patients.
“I make sure I know them and everything they are dealing with,” Dr. Seth said. “As an example, everything I do can have great impacts on a patient’s health and carry many side effects. The better I know the patient, the better I am able to help mitigate these side effects.”
He became interested in medical oncology/hematology because this field is heavily involved in research and it is evolving rapidly.
“When I was training in internal medicine, I noticed there was more research going on here,” Dr. Seth said. “I wanted to be a part of that, which is one of the big reasons I am glad to be here because we have a robust clinical trial program.”
He also values the depth and breadth of expertise here at Marshfield Clinic Health System. He works with a team of radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists and other specialists to help his patients with cancer.
Dr. Seth attended medical school at the Government Medical College & Hospital in Punjab, India. He completed his residency at Western Michigan University – Homer Stryker, M.D., School of Medicine in Kalamazoo and his fellowship at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.
