Dr. Brittany Samson is a developmental and behavioral pediatric provider. She sees patients with developmental delays, behavioral challenges and neuro-developmental disorders, including autism and ADHD.
A career in pediatrics, with a focus on developmental and behavioral health, has proven to be a perfect fit for Dr. Brittany Samson. She had always enjoyed working with kids and helping others.
She also had a passion for mental health care, but knew she wanted to work in medicine. Through her specialty as a developmental and behavioral pediatric provider, she found a career choice she is passionate about that incorporates kids, mental health and medicine.
“This field gives me the time to learn a lot about my patients, spend time with their families, navigate through really complicated situations and help come up with collaborative plans," she said.
She sees pediatric patients for developmental delays, behavioral challenges, neuro-developmental disorders such as autism and ADHD, sleeping difficulties and mental health concerns like anxiety and depression.
She wants to meet her patients and their families where they are at with their care and their concerns.
“These families are often marginalized and sometimes confused about what's going on or don't feel supported. The biggest thing I want to do for my patients is to give them space to tell their stories and share everything that's going on," she said. “This helps us figure out the best route to take with care."
While a diagnosis might take time, Dr. Samson strives to find the best solution for families.
“It's not a one-size-fits-all," she said.
Dr. Samson received her medical degree from Saba University of Medicine. She subsequently completed her pediatric residency at Marshfield Clinic Health System and her fellowship in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics at University of Arizona. She also has completed a Masters in Psychology from Saybrook University in San Francisco.
Outside of health care, Dr. Samson enjoys antiquing with her husband, where they particularly collect teacups and pocket watches. She also enjoys spending time with her five children, running and reading.
